That doesn’t sound like a lot to our 21st centure movie sensibilities, but in 1974, that was a HUGE sum of money. I understand that The Towering Inferno had a budget of $13 million. The list doesn’t end there, but it gives you an idea of what to expect.

And The Towering Inferno assembles some of the biggest stars ever: These kinds of films are known for sporting a huge ensemble cast of big stars of various ages. Movies like Airport, Earthquake, The Swarm, and The Poseidon Adventure.) (When I talk about 1970s disaster movies, I’m talking about the classics of the genre, all of which are worth watching. Not only does it have the best cast from that spate of movies, but the visual effects and scripting was better done than other movies of this ilk. If you like epic disaster films from the 1970’s, they don’t get much better than The Towering Inferno.
